Withholding of Deportation - An order issued by an immigration judge allowing an individual to remain in the U.S. who shows more than a 50% chance they will be persecuted in their home country due to:

  • membership in a social group,
  • nationality,
  • political opinion, or
  • race.


Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) - The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a Federal assistance program through FNS. WIC provides services for health care and nutrition to low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and children up to age 5, who are at nutritional risk.


Workers' Compensation (WC) - A form of insurance paying a benefit to an employee who is injured on a job covered by workers’ compensation.


Workfare Programs - Activities with public or private non-profit employers where ABAWDs work off the value of the household’s monthly SNAP benefit as a condition of eligibility.


Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) - Federal programs to prepare youth and unskilled adults for entry into the labor force. These programs also provide job training to economically disadvantaged individuals, and other individuals facing serious barriers to employment. WIOA amended the Workforce Investment act of 1988.


Workforce Partnerships - Programs operated by a private employer, an organization representing private employers, or a nonprofit organization providing services relating to workforce development; or an entity identified as an eligible provider of training services under Section 122(d) of WIOA. Workforce partnerships may include multi-State agency programs and must follow the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938.
