Verification
7 CFR § 273.2(f)(1)(vi) and (2)(i)-(ii) and (3)(i)
Residency in Connecticut must be verified.
Exception: Verification is not required for categorically eligible households, unless it is questionable. Verification of residency through categorical eligibility is provided by:
- the program conferring categorical eligibility, or
- the receipt of the “Help for People In Need” brochure, which is only given to Connecticut residents
Application
7 CFR § 273.2(f)(1) and (i)(4)(B)
Verify residency at application. Accept any document or collateral contact that reasonably verifies residency.
Deny the application if not verified by the due date.
Postpone verification for expedited service month(s), unless verification can be provided in time to meet the 7-day standard of promptness.
Periodic Report
7 CFR § 273.12(a)(5)(iii)(A)-(B)
Do not verify residency at PRF, unless questionable. Accept any document or collateral contact that reasonably verifies residency.
Verify new or changed shelter amounts, if questionable. See Verification of Shelter Expenses.
Interim Changes
7 CFR § 273.2(f)(8)(ii) & 7 CFR § 273.12(a)(5)(vi)
Do not verify residency at the time of an interim change, unless questionable. Accept any document or collateral contact that reasonably verifies residency.
Verify new or changed shelter amounts, if questionable. See Verification of Shelter Expenses.
Renewal
7 CFR § 273.2(f)(8)(i)(D)
Do not verify residency at renewal, unless questionable. Accept any document or collateral contact that reasonably proves residency.
Deny the renewal application if not verified by the due date.
