Expenses and Deductions
7 CFR § 273.2(f)(1)(xii) & 7 CFR § 273.9(d) & 7 CFR § 273.10(d)(1)(i)-(ii)(2)(4)
EDGs may receive 6 expenses and deductions from their income. These expenses and deductions are:
- Dependent Care
- Earned Income Deduction
- Legally Obligated Child Support
- Medical Expenses
- Shelter Expenses
- Standard Deduction
The EDG does not have to actually make a payment to get a deduction but the EDG must be responsible for the expense.
Exception: Child support must be paid to receive that deduction.
Expenses covered by excluded reimbursements or excluded vendor payments are not allowed.
This section defines allowable expenses. See Determining Income, Expenses, and Deductions for instructions on budgeting the expense.
