Monthly Expense Deductions
7 CFR § 273.10(d)
Monthly expenses used to determine deductions are:
- Dependent Care Expenses
- Earned Income Deduction
- Legally Obligated Child Support Expenses
- Medical Expenses
- Shelter Expenses
- Standard Deduction
Disallowed Expenses
7 CFR § 273.10(d)(1)(i)-(ii)
Do not allow an expense if:
- It is an amount from past billing periods, even if actually paid in the current month.
- The expense is paid for by some in-kind benefit, such as food.
- The service is provided by someone residing in the EDG.
- The expense is paid by someone outside of the EDG. These payments may be reimbursements or vendor payments.
Exceptions:
- Expenses paid by someone outside of the EDG who states the money paid for the expense is a loan and must be paid back to them.
- Utility expenses are allowed if paid by an energy assistance payment. See Standard Utility Allowance.
