Disallowed Expenses

7 CFR § 273.10(d)(1)(i)-(ii)


Do not allow an expense if:

  • It is an amount from past billing periods, even if actually paid in the current month. 
  • The expense is paid for by some in-kind benefit, such as food.
  • The service is provided by someone residing in the EDG.
  • The expense is paid by someone outside of the EDG. These payments may be reimbursements or vendor payments. 

Exceptions

  • Expenses paid by someone outside of the EDG who states the money paid for the expense is a loan and must be paid back to them.
  • Utility expenses are allowed if paid by an energy assistance payment.  See Standard Utility Allowance.
