7 CFR § 273.2(j)(2)(ii)(A)-(B) and (iii) & 7 CFR § 273.8
Assets are cash, property or items with value, owned by an individual. Use countable assets at the time the EDG is interviewed to determine eligibility.
Note: RCE or ECE EDGs are automatically asset eligible.
The remainder of this item applies only to EDGs with an elderly or disabled member with gross income greater than 200% of the FPL.
Exception: Transferred assets policy also applies to EDGs who are RCE through receipt of SAGA or AABD.
Asset Limits
7 CFR § 273.8(b)
EDGs with an elderly or disabled member are not eligible for SNAP benefits if countable assets total more than $4,500.
Exception: The asset limit is $4,500 if the only elderly or disabled member is ineligible or disqualified.
Excluded Member Assets
7 CFR § 273.2(j)(2)(v) and (4)(iii)(A) & 7 CFR § 273.8(a) and (e)(17)
Exclude assets of any EDG member who receives any of the following:
Note: TFA-funded referral services benefit the entire EDG, including ineligible and disqualified members who made the EDG ineligible for RCE or ECE.
Non-Member Assets
7 CFR § 273.8(i)(1)-(2) & 7 CFR § 273.11(d)
Do not count assets of the following individuals living with the EDG:
- Boarders, unless included in the EDG
- Ineligible students
- Live-in attendants
- Roomers
- Other individuals living with the EDG who:
- are not mandatory EDG members, and
- do not purchase and prepare meals with the EDG.
