Expedited Service Minimum Actions
7 CFR § 273.2(a)(2) and (d)(1) and (e) and (i)(4)(i)(A)
EDGs must complete the following minimum actions for expedited service:
- complete the application by answering all application questions (this may be done during the interview),
- verify identity unless known to ImpaCT, and
- complete an interview.
See Postponed Actions for actions the EDG must complete in order to receive continued benefits beyond the first or 2nd month.
Note: See Reapplication After Expedited Service if the EDG’s last approval was expedited.
Verification of Identity
7 CFR § 273.2(f)(1)(vii) and (i)(4)(A)
EDGs qualifying for expedited service must verify the identity of the individual applying, if not already known. Verification of identity cannot be postponed. See Identity for requirements.
Interview
7 CFR § 273.2(e)
An interview must be completed before expedited service benefits are issued.
Applications In-Person
7 CFR § 273.2(e)(1) and (3)
Complete an in-person interview on the application file date, or upon request.
Applications Dropped off, Mailed, Submitted Online, or Sent from SSA
CT Waiver of 7 CFR § 273.2(e)(3)
After the application is registered in ImpaCT and identified as eligible for expedited service, make 2 attempts to cold call the EDG to complete the interview.
Send an On-Demand Interview Notice if the EDG cannot be reached after 2 attempts. The notice advises the EDG to call the Benefit Center, using the toll free number, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, to complete an interview, or to schedule an in-person interview. The EDG must call within 7 days.
Note: A 2nd interview is not required if SSA completed the interview and provided a complete application and verification of identity (if required), unless needed to resolve issues or questions.
Interview Not Completed and Identity Not Verified
CT Waiver of 7 CFR § 273.2(i)(3)(iii) and (4)(iii)(A)-(B)
EDGs who don’t complete an interview and identity was not verified by the 7th-calendar day are automatically sent a NOMI.
Minimum Actions Not Completed
7 CFR § 273.2(a)(2) and (i)(4)(i)(A)
EDGs lose their entitlement to expedited service if they fail to complete the minimum actions within the 7-calendar-day timeframe. Follow normal 30-day processing timeframes.
